January 3 at 1 p.m. TRIAD is a crime prevention program for seniors. It is a three-way partnership between the Norfolk Council on Aging, The Norfolk Police Dept. and the Norfolk County Sheriff.
January 10 at 1 p.m. Like a Mighty Stream: The Civil Rights Movement, 1954-1968 Speaker/historian, Paulo Di Gregorio will examine the causes, course, and legacy of the modern civil rights movement. Free.
January 12 at 11 a.m. Self Defense for Seniors Norfolk Police Detective Michelle Palladini will teach self defense for seniors. Be prepared to listen and move as we learn how to be safe at home and in the community.
January 12 at 1 p.m. UP: A Magical Tale of Life’s Journey Academy Award Winner for Best Movie. Popcorn and drinks provided. Free.
January 24 at 1 p.m. From Catacombs to Cathedrals Presented by Dennis Sardella, Docent, Museum of Russian Icons. The great cathedrals of Europe were the culmination of a thousand-year evolution that began with the gatherings of early Christians in private homes. Their development was a response to a blend of historic, demographic, theological and engineering factors. In this visual presentation we will explore the history of the great cathedrals of Europe to see that many of the familiar features of today’s churches retain traces of that history. Free.
January 31 at 2 p.m. Healthy Eating for the New Year Join Foxboro YCMA’s Nutrition Director Lauren Hynes at the Norfolk Senior Center for a fun and interactive nutrition presentation. Lauren will teach how you can shop healthfully and how to look for healthy convenience foods in the grocery store. She will provide meal and snack ideas, as well as some healthy recipes. There will also be an open nutrition discussion. $2.
