King Philip DECA recently held its annual senior banquet to mark the end of another successful year at the high school, recognize the members of the program, and hand out superlatives and awards.
DECA is an internationally recognized, entrepreneurship-based organization that allows students to familiarize themselves with business principles. KP has a long successful tradition in the program. This season, that tradition continued with three teams placing at the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, CA.
This year’s ICDC champions are Grace Patenaude and Lillian Andrews (ICDC Finalists - Fashion Promotion Plan); Meg Piller, Taylor Peterson, and Katherine Tobichuk (ICDC Champions 7th place - Learn and Earn Project); Nick Sammarco and Nick Simmons (ICDC Champions 6th place - Sport and Entertainment Promotion Plan).
All of the seniors were then recognized for their involvement with the program in the previous two years, and commended on their hard work and worthy accomplishments. The senior officer team said their last words in front of the DECA chapter as they said goodbye to the organization that has become a second home to many. The senior officers for the 2016-2017 academic year were Ashley Guertin, President; Jenn Hutnyan, Director of Membership; Meg Piller, Director of Communications; Ryan Coulter, Director of Finance; Blair Cloutier, Director of Initiatives; Lauren Chandler, Director of Public Relations; and Jaron May, State Officer.
The banquet was organized by Shelby Anderson, Julian Masserone, Mckenzie Patrick, and Brie Stephani.
