The Norfolk Senior Center will host historian John Horrigan for two programs in November.
On November 8, Horrigan will present his slideshow “The Great Hurricane of 1938,” which devastated the East Coast. The program will start at 1 p.m.
On November 15, Horrigan will lecture on “The Early Beatles” at 6 p.m.
Horrigan, who hosted a nine-time Emmy Award winning program titled “The Folklorist,” lectures on historical events, including weather, Boston and New England history, military history, astronomy, mysteries, musical history, disasters, and more.
His programs combine a unique and varied mixture of performance and history, entertaining and enlightening his audiences as they learn about past events.
Understanding the past, says Horrigan, helps one make informed decisions in the present that may affect the future.
“If we fail to understand the past, we are doomed to repeat it in the future,” he noted.
