If you could dive into any book, what would you choose, and why? How would you describe a real or fictional library and what does that means to you? (When considering a library, think of any collection of books). These are the two question to describe in this year's 7th Annual Morrill Memorial Library Essay Contest! Levels 1 and 2 will address their favorite book and level 3 will write about their favorite library.
Submissions must include the entry form and an essay of 1,000 words or less, typed and double spaced. The contest is open to Norwood residents only for levels 1 and 2, and Norwood residents and residents from surrounding towns for level 3.
In addition to bragging rights, winners will be awarded in each category. The first, second and third prizes are $35, $25 and $10 dollar gift cards to Barnes & Noble, in that order.
To qualify, essays need to be submitted between Sunday, April 1, and Monday, April 30, by email at, [email protected], at the library's Outreach Department, or by calling 781-769-0200, x228.
For more information or to obtain an entry form, stop by the library, or visit www.norwoodlibrary.org.
The contest is categorized into three levels:
Level 1: grades 3-4
(Norwood residents only)
Level 2: grades 5-8
(Norwood residents only)
Level 3: grades 9-12
and adults (Norwood and surrounding towns' residents)
Winners will be chosen from a panel of judges who will evaluate the essays according to five equally-weighted categories:

• Development & Organization
• Creativity
• Voice
• Craft
