Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 27 this year, with the posting of ““Streets of Honor, Roads of Sorrow Tribute” taking place on May 19th, the dressing of the graves taking place on May 23rd, with a meeting time of 5 p.m. at the VFW Parking lot.
Holliston’s Memorial Day Services typically follow a similar pattern to earlier years, beginning at Lake Grove Cemetery at 10 a.m., followed by services at St. Mary’s Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. The parade generally steps off at 11 a.m. at 310 Woodland Street, in front of the former V.F.W. building, heading down Railroad Street to Church Street, to Central Street and finally to Washington Street, ending at Town Hall, with refreshments generally following at the Holliston Historical Society at 547 Washington Street.
In addition to veterans from the V.F.W. and the American Legion, the parade usually includes Holliston Police, Holliston Fire, school and other bands and scout groups.
