Ashland Farmers Market (AFM) organizers want the community to know “something fresh and unique is happening!”
“People who are waiting for locally grown vegetables and other AFM favorites can access them directly, even before we know if or how AFM will open,” Steve Mitchell, a market board member, said. “We want our customers to know they can still order and receive market products during these challenging times.”
Market organizers are committed to supporting its food vendors, artisans and the community. AFM will provide online marketing help for its vendors, who will be able to use the AFM mailing list, website, and social media platforms.
Noted for its popular special events, like Dog Day and Wine, Cheese and Chocolate Day, and live music every week, AFM normally operates from June through October at 125 Front St., on the grass across from the library. AFM has an average of 25 food vendors and three artisan vendors each week, with approximately 40 food vendors during the season.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AFM is unsure when the market will open.
“We do not know what modifications might be needed to run our market, and will depend on the town of Ashland permitting AFM to operate an outdoor market on town-owned property. COVID-19 has created challenges for all aspects of daily life, and AFM is preparing to adapt as needed,” Mitchell said.

“These are challenging times for all businesses, and we understand the pressures placed on our valued vendors during this health crisis. We are hopeful that our market and all Massachusetts farmers’ markets will be able to operate outdoors this season,” Mitchell said.
