The Squeezebox Stompers, a Cajun and Zydeco band, will be performing on Saturday, January 21 at the Original Congregational Church, 1 East St., Wrentham. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
Bringing a New Orleans musical gumbo to New England, the Squeezebox Stompers gets audience members’ blood boiling while putting a smile on their face at the same time. The group injects their trademark Louisiana sound into every genre from Cajun, Zydeco, Blues, and Country.
The group consists of Ralph Tufo on accordian, piano and vocals; Larry Plitt on guitar and vocals; Mike Migliozzi on drums and vocals; Steve Latanision on fiddle, mandolin, banjo and guitar; Andy Solberg on bass and vocals; and Geoff Wadsworth on saxophone, harmonica, pennywhistle and vocals. Tufo was formerly with the Bugaloo Swamis, and has won four Boston Music Awards, and Plitt was the 2007 winner of the Boston Folk Festival songwriting contest.
Future concerts at the Original Congregational Church include the Dixie Diehards on Feb. 17 performing New Orleans jazz; Mile Twelve, a bluegrass band, on March 11; and Burning Bridget Cleary with high-spirited Celtic music, on April 8.
Tickets for the Squeezebox Stompers are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Tickets are available at the church office by calling 508-384-3110 or at www.musicatocc.org.
The concert will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church, accessible from the parking lot in the rear. For more information and to be added to the concert mailing list, visit www.musicatocc.org, or contact Ken Graves (508-384-8084 or [email protected]).
