The Wrentham Elementary Schools Trust (WEST) will be hosting the 2nd annual Battle of the Bands on January 28 from 7 p.m. to midnight at Showcase Live at Patriot Place. The bands scheduled to perform this year are Untapped Potential, Ben Blakesley and the Haymakers, and last year’s battle winners, the Berkshire Valley Boys. This year’s competition is bound to be just as exciting as last year’s, with fans eager to see if Berkshire Valley Boys can edge out another victory.
The first WEST Battle of the Bands was held in February of 2016. The event was a huge success, with close to 300 parents and supporters participating. Over $14,000 was raised for WEST through donations, ticket sales, and raffle prizes.
WEST began in 2007 and to date has funded over $200,000 in educational grants for Wrentham Public Schools. The organization is made up of parents, teachers, and community members who strive to enrich Wrentham’s educational programs through events like the Battle of the Bands and the Shining Stars program. In 2016 alone, WEST was able to fund over $30,000 in grants. These grants helped provide students in grades K-6 enrichment activities in reading, writing, and science. Without community support, many of these programs and grants would not be possible. WEST is a 501(c)(3) organization.
Battle of the Bands tickets are $50 and are available at www.wrenthamwest.org. Community members can also donate or vote for their favorite bands through the website, or by contacting WEST at [email protected].
