Apply Online Through October 16th
The Wrentham Cultural Council (WCC) is currently accepting applications for the FY2018 grant cycle. An online application at www.mass-culture.org allows applicants to complete forms online and upload any required supplemental materials by the October 16th deadline. Applications can only be accepted online.
The Wrentham Cultural Council strives to enhance the cultural vitality of the community by supporting activities and projects for the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences that will engage the citizens of Wrentham. Members of the WCC are appointed by the Board of Selectmen and are responsible for reviewing and awarding grants for programs with funds received from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Last year, the Wrentham Cultural Council awarded 17 grants to applicants totaling $4,600 through funds allocated by the state.
This year’s applications are considered with the following criteria in mind:
• Innovative, collaborative,
and creative project
• Shows strong planning and evidence of ability to follow through
• Addresses a community need or reaches an underserved population
• By a local artist(s) or organization(s)
• Community based program or event
The Wrentham Cultural Council encourages applicants to team up with a local organization to jointly present a cultural project that has a specified program/event date, a marketing plan for attracting the target audience to the program, and a contingency plan for partial grant funding.
Grants are modest, averaging $200-$500. An applicant may not submit more than two project applications per grant cycle. An applicant is limited to two consecutive years that a project can be re-submitted for funding. Applicants must provide their own publicity for their project.
The Wrentham Cultural Council (WCC) is the local branch of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. In addition to awarding grants, The WCC also plans exhibits and events at the Old Fiske Museum where they have a gallery and office space, and sponsors Wrentham’s “Arts on the Common.” They share the Old Fiske Museum facility with the Wrentham Historical Commission.
