He’s been a Project 351 Ambassador since this past spring. Joseph Scolpinetti, a freshman at Millis High School, was nominated by Maureen Knowlton, Millis Middle School principal, at the beginning of 2017, in his 8th grade year, to be an ambassador for Millis for the Commonwealth’s Project 351. Scolpinetti joined 8th graders across the state in a leadership position where they would work on service projects that included kindness, compassion, humility and gratitude.
Scolpinetti most recently collected 89 canned goods and $250 in donations for the Millis Food Pantry. He conducted the food drive at the Middle School, and collected for the Millis Food Pantry at the Millis High School Football team’s Superbowl championship game at Gillette Stadium.
“I never knew how much I could impact my community before I became a part of Project 351,” says Scolpinetti. “It has been a wonderful experience, and I am proud and honored to do it again next year.”
The student’s first large service project was a yard sale he held at his home. He collected $520 dollars from that, using the funds to purchase food for homeless veterans from BJ’s. Secondly, Scolpinetti held a clothing drive for Cradles to Crayons, which resulted in a truckload of donations.
