King Philip High School seniors Riley Magane and Jeffrey Yatsuhashi were honored at the Hockomock League’s annual Scholar Athlete banquet, held last month at Lake Pearl Luciano’s.
The event recognizes students for their athletic excellence, leadership on and off the field, and classroom performance. A top male and female from each of the Hockomock League schools are chosen for the award. Recipients have successfully balanced difficult academics along with athletics and other extracurricular activities.
Magane, who was a member of the D1 South champion girls soccer team as well as the track team, will attend Boston University in the fall. She lives in Wrentham.
Yatsuhashi, the class valedictorian, was captain of the track team as well as a member of KP’s two-time state champion foot ball team. The Norfolk resident will attend Notre Dame.
